A STATISTICAL STUDY OF UPPER EYELIDS OF KOREAN YOUNG WOMAN

Abstract
|
|
|
The morphology and normal anatomical value of upper eyelids was variable between race and age, and did not standardized yet in korea. We had several articles about anatomy of upper eyelids but detailed topographic anatomical survey has not been issued. The authors statistically analysed a normal anatomical variation of the upper eyelids; width of double fold, width of tarsal plate, width of upper eyelid, height of palpabral fissure, intercanthal distance and epicanthus in 150 women.
The results were as follows.
1. Double fold was examined about 40%, the average width of double fold was 5.7mm.
2. The average width of upper tarsal plate was 7.7mm, difference between double fold and tarsal plate was 2.0mm.
3. Width of double fold was variable, but width of tasal plate was relatively constant.
4. The height of palpabral fissure was 8.1mm.
5. Intercanthal distance was 36mm.
6. Presence of epicanthus was 72%.
